UAE: Full List of COVID-19 Violations with Fines

The UAE has taken the coronavirus situation with all gravitas, and has imposed strict rules to contain the spread of the virus. Earlier, the UAE government issued the various fines for covid-19 protocol violations. The list has been updated. Check out these steps to know how to check your COVID-19 violations online.

The updated list introduced a host of fines, and the mulct ranges from AED 1,000 to AED 50,000. The upper end of the fines demonstrates the UAE government’s seriousness in curbing the spread of the pestilence. The updated list, announced by UAE’s Attorney-General Dr Hamad Saif Al Shamshi, introduces new fines to violations that include failure to use face masks, overloading your vehicle, failure to follow social distancing, and spreading misinformation.

The updated list of fines:

Quarantine, Mandatory Hospitalization

AED 20,000 fine:

  • Providing or perpetuating misinformation.
  • Failure to implement safety measures or avoiding quarantine instructions issued by the relevant authorities.
  • Intentionally not revealing the details of people coming from abroad, or not complying with the quarantine procedures.
  • Not disclosing the arrival of workers or domestic servants after recruiting them from abroad, or not permitting/mandating required quarantine procedures.

AED 50,000 fine:

  • Non-compliance to mandatory hospitalization or refusing to take treatment, even after being informed.
  • Non-compliance to adhere with home-quarantine procedures as dictated by a special guide. Not getting retested for COVID-19 or refusing to comply with the implementation of such procedures.
  • Non-compliance with quarantine facility instructions and/or not getting retested for COVID-19 according to the issued instructions.

E-tracking

AED 1,000 fine:Damaging or losing your e-tracking devices or paraphernalia.

AED 10,000 fine:For not registering on the respective contact-tracing app. The fine also carries to acts that are meant to sabotage the e-tracking equipment and/or tamper them. Also for refusal to inform the relevant authorities about the loss or damage of your device after 24 hours from the time of disconnection.

AED 20,000 fine:For hacking systems that record quarantine cases, damaging, changing, or deleting data in the programs or websites.

Operating hours of businesses

AED 50,000 fine is for shopping malls. For other business outlets, the fine stands at AED 30,000.The offenses apply to:

  • Failure in following the guidelines issued to opening or shutting down educational institutions, public swimming pools, markets, restaurants, sports centers, cafes, beaches, amusement parks, cinemas, commercial centers, gardens, hotels, parks and similar facilities.
  • Failure to comply with instructions that dictate the reception of guests at any organization or center.
  • Failure to obliging to rules that restrict closed areas within establishments and recreational centers.

AED 5,000 fine:

  • For informing people through posters that the medical facilities and centers are taking PCR tests or that they have completed the approved vaccination.

AED 10,000 fine:

  • Not following the safety measures issued by the relevant authorities with regards to discontinuing tourist maritime trips.

AED 20,000 fine:

  • Non-compliance from the facility’s part to report about their workers testing positive for COVID-19 despite the facility being aware of the case.
  • Violating safety precautions for quarantining in private establishments.

AED 10,000 fine:

  • Non-compliance with performing regular PCR tests for workers during the allotted period by the authorities.

Wedding gatherings and celebrations

AED 10,000 and AED 5,000 will be imposed on organizers and participants respectively for:

Non-compliance with avoiding or restricting gatherings inside yachts, lounges, houses, shops and other residential places.

AED 50,000 for organizers and AED 15,000 for participants will be liable on those:

  • That organize events such as seminars, parties, funerals, or similar events.

AED 10,000 for organizers:

If they fail to comply with the instructions restricting the number of participants and other such precautionary guidelines.

AED 20,000 for property owners

  • In the case of failure to comply with the rules set for real estate owners, and especially for violating rules forbidding the gathering of groups of people in one flat, or gathering employees or workers in places that aren’t licensed.

AED 5,000 for travelers entering UAE

  • For violating safety measures related to entering the UAE.

Fines for not using a mask

AED 3000 will be imposed on individuals who do not use a mask while:

  • Present in crowded places
  • Entering closed public areas and shopping malls.
  • Using private transportation, but exempted from fines when (a) The driver is inside the vehicle; and (b) Present with family members and second-degree cousins.

AED 5000 fine for business owners and AED 500 fine for employees for not wearing a mask at workplace.

AED 3000 fine related to overloading vehicles

  • AED 300 for drivers
  • Only one passenger allowed for pickup trucks.
  • No pavilion riders for motorcycles (driver only).
  • Other vehicles like cabs can allow two passengers and 1 driver.
  • Family members, second degree cousins, and servants are exempted from these rules.

Social Distancing

AED 3000 will be imposed on those that don’t follow social distancing.

AED 20,000 fine for shopping malls and AED 10,000 for other businesses:

  • For failing to install thermal cameras.
  • For allowing large gatherings and crowds.
  • For exceeding the establishment’s capacity.
  • Non-compliance with social distancing measure.

Deliberate refusal to undergo medical tests

  • AED 1,000 fine for refusal to retesting within two weeks in government labs upon the request of relevant authorities.
  • AED 5,000 fine will be levied on those that refuse to undergo regular PCR tests.

Tuition Classes

AED 30,000 for the tutor and AED 20,000 for the owner of the institution will be levied.

Spreading Misinformation

AED 20,000 will be imposed on those that perpetuate rumours and misinformation about health information related to the virus. The same will also be levied on those that discourage the non-compliance of the established rules.

Data Privacy

AED 20,000 mulct for those that transfer, circulate, broadcast, publish, disclose, collect, or copy the health information of those affected with COVID-19 patients. The fine is also given to those that tamper, delete or destroy said information.
