UAE: 88 Government Services Fees Waived, Reduced
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai announced the reduction in the fees for 88 government services in Dubai. This initiative is part of a larger initiative that aims at boosting the economic growth of the Emirate and reducing the financial burden for budding entrepreneurs and businesspeople looking to conduct new business setup in Dubai.
According to the Executive Council Resolution No. (19) 2021, waivers and fee-reductions will take effect on services provided by Dubai Land Department, Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), Dubai Heath Authority (DHA), Dubai Courts, Dubai Municipality (DM), Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and Department of Economic Development (DED).
The decision is part of a series of developments aimed at promoting competitiveness, enhancing business growth, stimulating economic growth, supporting investors, lowering living costs and increasing standard of living, and improving the general business environment.
Entities offering waivers & fee-reductions:
- The Dubai Municipality will waive fees pertaining to permits for urgent medical certificates, labor supplies rooms, renewal of occupational Health Card, re-issuance of cheques, etc.
- The Dubai Maritime City Authority will reduce fees related to processes involving the residency visa, including processing the application for residency visas, urgent renewals of residency visas, issuance of employment visas, and residency visa transfers from government entities to the relevant authority. Fee-waivers will also be granted on the issuance and renewal of annual representative office licenses, as well as on the replacement of lost certificates.
- RTA will reduce the fees on the issuance of non-objection letters for the transfer of traffic file, and the permits for roadwork, and fees related to recreational bikes.
- Dubai Courts will reduce fees for acquiring certified copies of rulings of civil cases.
- Dubai Health Authority has agreed to waive fees for procuring medical fitness certificates for maritime activities.
- The resolution also gives authority to other government entities to reduce or waive payments other than fees exacted for its products and services after prior approval from the Department of Finance in Dubai.
- The Executive Council Resolution No. (19) of 2021 will come into effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette, and will make void any other legislation contradicting it.
