All UAE-Based Doctors are Eligible for Golden Visa
In a new move undertaken by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, all UAE-based doctors and physicians can now apply for a 10-year UAE Golden Visa. This provision is aimed at recognizing efforts and contribution of the frontline heroes who have been working indefatigably in the pandemic.
The golden visa will provide doctors and their families with a 10-year residency, and is anticipated to enhance their living stability and develop the healthcare sector.
This initiative is expected to attract the top talents in the medical field and provide them with a high standard of living in a favorable work environment. Not only will it develop the healthcare sector, but will also benefit other sectors wherein investors look to carry out new business setup in Dubai. This move will bolster the nation’s healthcare sector and make it a global leader in areas of efficiency and pandemic-cognizance.
Doctors will be able to apply for the golden visa between July 2021 and September 2022. One must use the services on the official website — smartservices.ica.gov.ae — to apply. Doctors based in Dubai can apply through smart.gdrfad.gov.ae

To make the process easier, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) will establish 7 new offices across the Emirates for doctors wishing to apply for the golden visa in person.
Very recently, under the National Programme for Coders, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced that the UAE govt. allotted 100,000 golden visas to talented coders from around the world in a bid to encourage the digital landscape of UAE.
These initiatives are a part of the golden visa scheme that was introduced a while ago. This conditionally-renewable 5- or 10-year visa is reserved for talented individuals and high-performing students, entrepreneurs, investors, and artists. This system allows the golden visa beneficiaries to sponsor for their families and live in the UAE.
In late November last year, the Cabinet presided by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed announced some major amendments pertaining to residence visa and also added many new categories for the 10-year golden visa, including computer engineering, electronics, electricity and biotechnology, doctors, doctorate-degree holders, and students with a GPA higher than 3.8.
According to Cabinet Resolution No. 56 of 2018 on Regulating the Residence Permits for Investors, Entrepreneurs and Specialised Talents, the resolution provisions residence permits to entrepreneurs, specialized talents, investors, scientists from various disciplines, and extraordinary students.
